The country estate was constructed by Jean-Baptiste de Villeneuve (1763-1806).
It was the residence of Admiral de Villeneuve who was in command of Napoleon’s Fleet under the Empire. He was known as the unfortunate hero of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The ministry of culture classified the gardens as « remarkable ». Over a period of 30 years these gardens were created by André de Villeneuve in the spirit of French formal gardens which surrounded the basins of the XIIIth century.
These gardens are declared by the Ministry of culture as « remarkable » on the ‘Plateau of Lavender’.
