Valensole, it’s name derived from Valensolis – which signifies the valley of the sun – is a village in the Alpes of the Haute-Provence. It is situated at the entrance of the Plateau and therefor has been named after it’s surroundings. Amongst the turning and interwoven little streets of Valensole are centuries of history to be found : the XIIIth century church, the fountains and open washing places, the sculptured doors with their impressive knockers and the ramparts overlooking the valley. All of that contributing to the wealth of this commune.
Around Valensole (40 min from the village), the splendid village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is to be found.
